Biography

Andrea Wiebe is a registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW).  Andrea completed her Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Toronto after completing her Social Development and Bachelor of Social Work degrees at the University of Waterloo. She works under the supervision of registered psychologist Dr. Kerris del Rosario.

Andrea has several years of experience in individual, couples’, and family counselling with clients from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds related to a variety of issues such as: mental health struggles, addictions, post-traumatic stress, dementia, anger, low self-esteem, self-harm, relationship challenges, problems with parenting, social anxiety, sexual, emotional, and physical abuse, sexual orientation and gender identity, faith, life transitions, educational, employment, and financial stresses, chronic illnesses, and grief.

In her practice, Andrea takes a holistic approach to understanding how mental, emotional, physical, social, spiritual and environmental factors impact each person. The main theories that influence Andrea’s approach are: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness, and Attachment Focused Therapy.

Andrea provides her clients with holistic counselling services that empower them to: problem solve in a safe and non-judgemental way; increase understanding of the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviours; improve self-esteem; reduce stress; improve coping skills; feel increasingly hopeful; recover; and, ultimately, live joyful and meaningful lives. Andrea believes that, at some point in our lives, we all can benefit from speaking with someone who can help empower and motivate us to reach our goals and successfully navigate through the inevitable difficulties of life.
